A few months back I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Helen from Gastall Dog Grooming in her salon, which is conveniently located in the village of Kegworth, easily accessible from Loughborough and Castle Donnington.
I know that choosing pet services such as dog groomers and dog walkers is not something that many owners take lightly, as they want to make sure their beloved pooches are in the best possible care while they are not there to watch them. Having played the fly on the wall at Gastall for a morning, I can assure you that I would have no qualms over leaving my dog (if only I had one!) with them. I was really impressed with the level of care and attention that each of Helen’s furry clients receives during their visit in the salon.
What sets Gastall apart in my eyes is that Helen puts a strict limit on the number of appointments that she will take on every day. That way she makes sure she never has to rush a dog through the groom, even if it should take longer than expected. Helen attends to the dog from the minute it gets dropped off, up until the owner’s return. This also means that the dogs do not have to wait in a crate until it is their turn to be groomed. Instead they are able to roam freely, having a play and receiving belly rubs or a treat while they are waiting for their human to come and collect them.
Helen is the head groomer at Gastall, but she shares her space with two other groomers – Kelly and Christine – who rent grooming tables from her. That means, even if Helen does not currently have any more availability to take on clients, she may be able to refer you to one of the other two ladies. Having watched the three of them in action for a morning, I can safely say that I believe your dog will be in equally good care with either of the three groomers.
The best part is that Helen’s knowledge goes well beyond the business of dog grooming. She is also a trained Canine First Responder and has had training in canine behaviour and psychology. Moreover, Gastall have also very recently expanded to offer dog walking and dog sitting services. If you are interested in any of these services you can find out more about Gastall Dog Grooming on their website or directly call/text Helen at 07497393909 - tell her Anni says “hi”. :)
I’m particularly excited that Helen also offered me some space in one of the windows in her shopfront to display some of my wall art. If you have met me, you will know how excited I am about printing my photos large, but I don’t often get the chance to display them outside my own house or my clients’ homes. For Helen’s salon, I chose to provide one of my metal prints as the material is actually weather resistant. That means it is perfectly suited for the “challenging” conditions of a dog grooming salon, which imply lots of water droplets being shaken off by wet pooches and loose hair flying around.
