With the holidays coming up and the snow still lingering in our part of Leicestershire, Alex, Chris and I chose to give the shoot a Christmas feel and start at our local Christmas tree plantation Bradgate Trees, who kindly gave me the permission to shoot on their premises, before moving on the countryside scenery in Bradgate Park.
Most people will need a little warm up period in front of the camera, feeling slightly awkward during the initial shots. Not these two though! We jumped right in, with the two of them posing like pros and executing all my cues and prompts to perfection.
I can genuinely say that the photoshoot with Alex and Chris was just a pleasure from start and finish and when you see the images below, I’m sure you will be able to tell why. Their personalities and the love they have for each other shine through, while not being afraid to goof around either.
Chris and Alex are both students at Loughborough University, where Chris is doing a PhD in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences while Alex is working on his Drama degree. We realised it’s small world as Chris’ PhD is in the department as mine and our offices are based in the same building, but we have never met before!
When you have a couple as easy-going and in love as Chris and Alex, even the dullest day serves as a backdrop to sparkling images. However, on this occasion we were incredibly lucky: About halfway into the shoot the clouds parted to reveal the last rays of sun for the day. We quickly decided to move on to the open spaces of Bradgate park to catch the golden light at it’s fullest.
The nearby park entrance was unfortunately closed due the ice and snow, so we had to “make do” with the most gorgeous backdrop of the poison ivy and moss claiming the walls of this cute little shack. And just when you think it does not get much better than this, the kitschiest fairytale sunset happened!
